Jones Family (Wycliffe)
Wycliffe Bible Translators

The Jones Family, serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators
Our family will be moving to Yaounde, Cameroon to serve as Bible translation computer specialists in Africa. There are about 1700 languages spoken in Cameroon with English and French being the national languages. Todd will be serving as an IT consultant for the east Africa region to assess and meet the various IT needs in Africa. Additionally, due to the great need for computer specialists in west Africa, we will be residing in Cameroon, a strategic location for visiting and serving many neighboring west African countries, to train both Bible translators and nationals.

Please pray with us….
To walk with God by abiding in Him always and being filled with the Holy Spirit
for the whole family to stay strong spiritually and physically to fulfill our calling, and for protection from tropical diseases, like malaria
for wisdom to learn French well and to develop great relationships on the field
to be faithful in serving the west and east regions of Africa through technology, and for safety during frequent travels within Africa
for the children to adjust well to new surroundings, to find their identity and peace in the Lord, to grow up as men and women of God, and to meet good friends and teachers
for more prayer and financial partners to serve in this ministry faithfully together

The Problem: Churches Starving for the Word

With over a third of its population living below the poverty line, hunger is a serious threat in the Philippines. But there is an even greater danger: spiritual starvation. In a country whose roots in Catholicism and Islam go back for centuries, and where indigenous cults such as Iglesia Ni Kristo and Ang Dating Daan are expanding globally, many evangelical pastors are inadequately trained in teaching and preaching the Word of God.

Pastors are to equip the saints for the work of service. But when pastors themselves are ill-equipped for ministry due to a lack of training, congregations suffer and become vulnerable to various winds of doctrine and trickeries of men.

In other words, the body of Christ becomes malnourished, starving for spiritual sustenance that is possible only through the clear and accurate preaching of the Word of God. This is the situation of the church in the Philippines. The Body of Christ is hungry for the Word of God!

The Solution: Train Godly Men

The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
–2 Timothy 2:2

A crucial element for a healthy church is trained godly men who can equip others. This is the goal and heartbeat of the Expositor’s Academy (TEA) in the Philippines.

A member of the Master’s Academy International association of training ministries, TEA is dedicated to training ministers of God to develop the tools necessary to accurately interpret, obey, teach and preach the Word of God to His people.

TEA has sought to meet the challenge of equipping local pastors in the exposition of God’s Word. The response has been overwhelming.

The demand for training is more than what TEA can currently supply. Having graduated from the Master’s Seminary and having a native understanding of Filipino language and culture, God has uniquely qualified Allan to help meet this crucial need.

A teaching trip in 2009 cemented in our hearts the desire to minister in the Philippines. The body of Christ in the Philippines is starving for expository preaching. God has equipped and given us the desire to help. But we need like-minded individuals and churches to come alongside us in this ministry.

About us

Sinners saved by God’s grace through the finished work of Jesus Christ. That’s the most important thing anybody can ever know about us. But here’s a little bit of history…

Born and raised in the Philippines until he was 15, Allan has a native understanding of Filipino language and culture.

Raised as a Catholic, Allan was saved during his last year of college. Shortly after that, God graciously placed him at Grace Community Church. In 2009, he graduated from the Master’s Seminary with a Master of Divinity.

Just as he was starting seminary, Allan met Sandi.

Sandi grew up professing to be a Christian, but it wasn’t until college that God opened her eyes to her need for the Savior.

In God’s sovereignty (and much to Allan’s delight), He also placed Sandi at Grace Community Church.

Sandi is set to graduate with a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from the Master’s College in May 2011.

Married since 2006, Allan and Sandi have two sons, Jakob and Trevor.
